-Part 14-
We strolled through the huge marble lobby and out into the sunlight. I took a deep breath of fresh air and immediately I started to feel a bit better.
“It’s lovely out, see?” Jimmy urged, putting on a pair of sunglasses. The sunlight flooded my skin and we strolled through the park and down the narrow streets of London.
Jimmy reached over and took my hand in his, his delicate calloused fingers nearly matching mine. I met his eyes and smiled as we walked, silently enjoying the moment. Nevertheless, an unmistakable air of awkwardness still hung in the air after Jimmy’s display of possessiveness. I tried to focus on other things - on his apology, on my acceptance, on the new day, but there was a suffocating hold on my thoughts. What’s going to happen when I leave? Why does Jimmy think he owns me? I felt smothered and I was probably starting to show it.
I must have been clearly deep in thought because Jimmy suddenly spoke up.
I should have the new Old Habits Never Die chapter up in an hour or two! Promise!
